EDW Foundation Launches “Enough Is Enough” Ad Urging Michiganders to Support Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet to Continue Fighting for Better Health Care

Published: Aug 15, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Whether a woman needs emergency treatment or routine care, the insurance she works so hard to afford should work for her when she needs it. That is the message of “Enough Is Enough,” a new television and digital ad from the EDW Foundation airing across Michigan’s Eighth Congressional District.

The campaign highlights legislation supported by Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet and the EDW Foundation that would lower health care costs and reduce barriers to care for women in Michigan’s Eighth Congressional District:

  • H.R. 247, the Health Care Affordability Act of 2025, would make the enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits permanent.
  • H.R. 3514, the bipartisan Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act of 2025, would streamline prior authorization in Medicare Advantage and increase transparency around delays and denials.

For women in Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Midland, and communities across mid-Michigan, the cost of healthcare is not abstract. They are the denied scan, the unexpected bill waiting at the mailbox, or the hours spent trying to get an insurer to approve care a doctor has already said is necessary. Rising premiums and coverage delays can force women to choose between protecting their health and keeping up with everything else in their budget.

“Women work hard for their health insurance, and that insurance should work for them when they need it,” said former Rep. Cheri Bustos, EDW Foundation Board Member. “Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet understands that women should not have to fight an insurance company while they are also trying to get well, care for a loved one, or keep their household on track. Michiganders should tell her to keep fighting for better health care by continuing to support H.R. 247 and H.R. 3514.”
