EDW Foundation Launches “Big Dreams” Ad Highlighting the Fight to Lower Costs and Expand Opportunity for Oregon Women

Published: Aug 06, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the EDW Foundation launched “Big Dreams,” a television and digital issue campaign airing across Oregon’s Fifth Congressional District that highlights Rep. Janelle Bynum’s work to address the affordability crisis. The campaign urges Bynum to keep fighting for affordability by voting for FY2026 funding by the September 30 deadline, a priority of the Foundation.

The ad focuses on Bynum’s K-30 Agenda, a package of bills aimed at making homeownership more attainable, expanding the housing supply, and creating stronger pathways to good-paying jobs. The bills includes:

·   The First-Time Home Buyers Match Act, which would establish a five-year pilot program at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide matching funds through individual development accounts to 20,000 low- and middle-income people saving for the costs of purchasing their first home.

·   The Accelerating Home Building Act, which would establish a HUD grant program to support pre-approved, standardized building plans and designs, speed up permitting and home construction, and lower costs for homebuyers.

·   The Homebuilder Corps Act, which would address skilled-labor shortages in the homebuilding industry by investing $200 million in residential construction training programs through Job Corps.

Bynum also introduced the Restoring Economic Lifelines for Independent Enterprises and Family Businesses (RELIEF) Act, which would help small businesses recover from tariff-related losses.

Across OR-05, from the Portland suburbs through the Willamette Valley to Bend, rising housing costs and other financial pressures are making it harder for women to buy a first home, build a business, and create long-term financial security. These challenges are especially significant for women, who continue to face wage and wealth gaps while often carrying a disproportionate share of caregiving and household costs.

“Women across Oregon are working hard, building businesses, and trying to create a secure future, but rising costs keep pushing their goals further out of reach,” said former Rep. Cheri Bustos, an EDW Foundation board member. “Through her K-30 Agenda and the RELIEF Act, Rep. Janelle Bynum is advancing practical solutions that can help more women afford a home, strengthen a small business, and get ahead. We are urging her to keep up that work by voting for FY2026 funding by the September 30 deadline.”

The EDW Foundation is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit formed to strengthen the impact of women in federal policymaking by equipping them with the knowledge, resources, and support needed to shape effective national solutions. We empower women advocates to engage productively with their lawmakers, and we equip women legislators with the tools and insight to craft policies that address real challenges in their communities. Our mission is to ensure women’s lived experiences inform decisions on issues such as health care, tax policy, energy and climate, technology and data governance, and financial regulation. We believe that when women’s real-world experiences guide policy, the solutions are more effective, more equitable, and better aligned with the needs of all Americans.
